The fizz of Gaultier

Like a well-poured French champagne at a witty and well-orchestrated party, this “From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk” exhibit is bubbly, fizzy, and fun. Lively with its animated emoting/talking mannequins and reach-out-and-touch someone corset and costume designs, this show at the DeYoung (SF) was being enjoyed, the day I went, by  people of all ages and persuasions. I suggested to my companion that Gaultier is the Salvador Dali of fabric, thread, lace, and bead constructions.

Happily, flashless photography is permitted (crank up the ISO’s; it is–like at a good party–dramatically dark at times).

I am an adherent of the theory that we don't know what we don't know. I enjoy all things literary, visual, mysterious, and just beyond our grasp.
